As you enter the place you are welcomed by a magnificent setting, everything is well designed and you feel like you are dwelled in to Kyrgyz Culture, and a delightful marriage of antique stones and the luxuries of modernity and the "Tunduk"(top of the yurt) mesmerizes you. There is an amazing room with aged leathers and pictures displayed on the walls.(The menu/dishes)The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters and main-coursers. I had Chicken and my friend had "Besh Barmak" They were exquisite. My friend who was French stated with utmost confidence that this was the most delicious meal he had had in Kyrgyzstan. The prices are ok too.Avigail Menashe
Recommended by our B&B host, this gem is a bit out of the centre of town but well worth the walk! A fantastic menu that highlights local Kyrgyz and minority (Uyghur, Dungan) cuisine at very reasonable prices. Service was excellent - very attentive waitresses. Decent wine and beer selection. The menu also is in English and has vegetarian options. Accepts credit cards.Finland Fryer
We were here during our stay in Karakol and the place had very good and tasty Kyrgysz food for reasonable prices. They had also a vegetarian options on the menu which is quite rare for the country.SaraTraveler1987
Dastokron offers very wide selection of ethnic food including traditional starters, soups, meat and, what is not that frequent in Kazahstan and Kirgistan, fish. In addition there is proper selection of cold and warm food for vegetarians. Very good, English speaking staff. Wide selection of alkohols. Highly recommended.Agafia
This restaurant is, in my opinion, the best place to eat in Karakol. They serve lots of different traditional Kyrgyz dishes that are excellently prepared, as well as a large selection of vegetarian options (something that is very difficult to come by in Kyrgyzstan). The staff are warm and welcoming, and the service was quick and attentive.OscarJW
We are vegetarians & it was difficult for us to find vegetarian food in Kyrgyzstan overall. Of the 3 days we stayed in Karakol, we had 2 meals here.Very friendly staff some of whom could speak English. We had mixed vegetables in sauce with rice (which was excellent) and a burritos (which was a bit soggy). The next day, we had grilled vegetables which was also very tasty.Loved the food here!nips_manny
A warm and familiar environment where to taste some local food, combined with traditional music playing in the background. The menu has a wide selection of plates from the appetizers to the desserts, also with vegetarian options available. After some boorsoq, traditional fried bread, dipped in the natural and homemade honey, we started our meal with a couple of salads, one cold and one hot. We both loved the warm salad ‘Yurta’ prepared with so tender calf meat and fried vegetables, whole garnished with a tasty sauce.Following the entree, being near Issik-Kul lake, we had to try at least a dish with the trout locally fished. So we had a re-interpretation of the Russian soup Ukha, and definitely was the right choice considering that the fish was absolutely delicious.Getting to the main courses there are that many options that will be difficult to pick one, that’s why we tasted a few of them. We had mushuro, a typical meat preparation of the Dungan tribe and of course couldn’t miss on the table the national Kyrgyz dish, the beshbarmak, noodles with boiled and finely chopped horse meat and with on top also some kazy, sausage of horse meat. Definitely my favorite. Instead, for Jordi the highlight of the dinner was the Turkish lamb with onion and adjika sauce, not just for the flavors but because he enjoys nibbling the meat from the bones. If in the end of the meal you don’t have more space for dessert, to help to digest you can have some Kyrgyz cognac with some black chocolate. A perfect conclusion for a rich and nice meal.WhereYouNow J
